5th Grade: Science Geological Events Students will be given a list of geological event terms and a word processing chart template. Students will then create a word processing document which includes each geological term, a description of the geological event, the effect each event has on the Earth, a clip-art picture chosen to represent the event and the reason why the clip-art was selected. The sample includes clip art samples of volcanoes, a shaking house for earthquakes/faulting and a picture of Pangaea for plate movements. It is organized into a 5x4 word processing table to make it easy to read. The main benefit for using a word processing document is to create an easy to read and well organized chart used to compare geological events at a glance. Students will be able to refer to the chart for reference in future lesson quizzes. The lesson also integrates technology for the purposes of teaching students various ways to use word processors.
